Ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) pouches, a calorie- and protein-dense mixture, have been a crucial tool in combating famine for decades. These 'miracle food' pouches are now being deployed to address the severe malnutrition crisis in Gaza. However, due to significant funding cuts to aid organizations, the supply of RUTF is critically low, hindering efforts to reach all those in need. The shortage threatens to exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation, leaving countless vulnerable Gazans, particularly children, at risk of starvation and death. International organizations are urgently appealing for increased funding to replenish RUTF supplies and scale up malnutrition treatment programs.
