France is contributing €717 million to the recapitalization effort, aiming to support the indebted satellite communications provider. President Macron acknowledged the UK's support on X, thanking his "British friends." The investment aims to strengthen Eutelsat as a competitor in the satellite internet market. The total funding package is designed to provide Eutelsat with the financial stability to compete effectively with established players like Elon Musk's Starlink.
