ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, is reportedly developing mixed reality goggles through its VR startup, Pico. The device aims to compete with Meta's mixed reality products by layering digital objects onto the user's view of the real world. Unlike the bulkier headsets currently available, Pico is designing the goggles to be small and lightweight, similar in size to the Bigscreen Beyond VR headset. This approach represents a shift from Pico's previous strategy of directly matching Meta's Quest headsets in features, positioning the new goggles as a more compact alternative.
