Tether announced that its Tether Gold (XAU₮) tokens in circulation have reached approximately 250,000 as of Q2 2025. Each token is reportedly backed 1:1 by a troy ounce of physical gold, representing a total of over 7.66 tons of gold. Tether Gold, launched in January 2020, provides a digital representation of physical gold ownership.
