A new dinosaur species, *Shri rapax*, has been identified from a fossil discovered in Mongolia. This small, stocky dinosaur is related to the Velociraptor and possessed strong hands and teeth. Paleontologists suggest these features indicate *Shri rapax* may have been capable of hunting or scavenging from larger dinosaurs. The discovery provides further insight into the diversity of raptor-like dinosaurs that existed during the Cretaceous period and adds to our understanding of the ancient ecosystems of Mongolia.
