Slovakia has agreed to drop its opposition to the 18th package of EU sanctions against Russia, paving the way for its approval by EU ambassadors on Friday. The move comes after Slovakia previously voiced concerns regarding a separate EU proposal aimed at phasing out gas imports from Russia. This clears a significant hurdle, allowing the EU to move forward with further economic measures intended to pressure Russia over its actions in Ukraine.
