Scientists have successfully sequenced the complete genome of an ancient Egyptian man for the first time. The skeleton, dating back 4,500 years to the early Age of the Pyramids, was discovered in 1902 within a sealed pottery vessel in a rock-cut tomb in Nuwayrat, south of Cairo. The unusual burial method, likely contributing to the DNA's preservation, allowed researchers to analyze the genetic code of an individual believed to have been a potter due to the skeletal evidence of hard labor. This breakthrough offers unprecedented insights into the genetic makeup of ancient Egyptians.
