Norwegian investment firm Aker is building an AI "factory" in the Arctic, joining a growing trend of companies leveraging the region's green energy and natural cooling for data centers. The facility will be located in Narvik, Norway, within the Arctic Circle, and boasts access to 230MW of power. Aker's CEO, Øyvind Eriksen, stated that construction is ready to begin and discussions with potential tech partners are ongoing. The project highlights the increasing importance of the Arctic region for large-scale AI infrastructure due to its unique environmental advantages.
