NASA's latest mission to the ISS features a bacterial experiment
NASA's Crew-11 mission to the International Space Station includes an experiment focusing on bacterial behavior in space. Scientists from Sheba Medical Center and Space Tango are sending disease-causing bacteria, including E. coli and strains causing typhoid fever and Salmonella, to the ISS. The experiment aims to understand how these bacteria spread and behave under extreme conditions. Once on the ISS, the bacteria will be grown and then returned to Earth. Researchers will compare the space-grown bacteria to identical strains grown in a lab under normal conditions. The results are expected to provide valuable insights into bacterial behavior and potentially lead to improved strategies for combating infections.
