Microsoft has begun rolling out lightweight taskbar apps for Microsoft 365 users on Windows 11. These companion apps launch automatically at startup, providing quick access to contacts, file search, and calendar functions directly from the taskbar. The People companion allows users to browse their company's org chart, find colleagues, and initiate Teams messages, calls, or emails. The File Search companion enables quick access to Microsoft 365 files through the Windows 11 taskbar, allowing users to search by file name, author, or keywords across OneDrive, SharePoint, and Microsoft.
