A California jury ruled that Meta illegally collected user data from the Flo period-tracking app, violating the state's wiretap law. The lawsuit, filed in 2021, accused Flo, Google, Meta, and Flurry of collecting sensitive menstrual health data without user consent for targeted advertising. Flo had promised to keep this data private, but the lawsuit alleged that Flo allowed Google and Meta to eavesdrop on in-app communications between November 2016 and February 2019. Cases against Flo, Google, and Flurry were resolved through undisclosed settlements before the verdict.
