Lyft has finalized its $197 million acquisition of European ride-hailing app Freenow, expanding Lyft's reach beyond North America for the first time. The deal, initially announced in April, received regulatory approval. Freenow will continue operating normally, with users prompted to download the Lyft app when in the US or Canada, and vice versa. Eventually, riders will be able to book taxis on either app seamlessly. No Freenow employee job cuts are expected.
