Lithuania is undertaking efforts to protect Baltic seals as climate change causes ice sheets, their natural habitat, to recede. The Baltic seal population has rebounded significantly in recent decades, increasing from approximately 4,000 in the late 1980s (when they were considered near extinction) to around 50,000 today. Conservation measures are crucial to maintain this positive trend and ensure the long-term survival of these animals in a changing environment.
