Last year, President Rahul Purini mentioned the company's exploration of AI tools for subtitling. The controversy began after the removal of 'The Yuzuki Family's Four Sons' episode due to poor subtitles riddled with errors. More recently, an episode of a new anime sparked further criticism, with viewers suggesting ChatGPT was used for the subtitles. Bluesky user Pixel identified problems with German subtitles for 'Necromancy Idol Alice' specifically. Crunchyroll has not yet publicly named the vendor responsible for the subpar translations.
