Canada has rescinded its digital services tax (DST) on large tech companies following pressure from the United States. The move comes after President Trump halted trade negotiations, deeming the tax an attack on the US. Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that discussions have resumed now that the DST is cancelled. The tax, which had been in effect since last year, was expected to generate $2 billion in revenue on June 30th. However, these collections will now be halted as Canada aims to reach a mutually beneficial trade agreement with the US.
